an arts & crafts wedding invitation

Aug 29, 2011   //   by lizzybloves   //   Wedding Invitations  //  2 Comments

Ok. Finally, the so anticipated and much teased about Arts & Crafts Wedding Invitation is here. I just wanted to make sure the now Mr. & Mrs.’ guests had a chance to view them before I shared them with you. Since the big day was this past Saturday I think we’re safe in doing so.

If you missed it the first time around, I shared the warm visual + sparkle with you here and the inspiration for the Wedding Invitation Suite is found here so you can see the gorgeousness of the Gamble House.

It was so exciting to work with such a great couple, and to create the custom illustrations and patterns for the overall Wedding Suite all inspired by intricate details of the so famous Gamble House ‘door’ was surely a high.

The typeface for their names and for the custom logo, which included the wedding date, was chosen for it’s call-back to the era. The rest of the information was kept in a sans-serif typeface in various colors from the chosen color palette so it accentuated the former font.

The information in the front of this Arts & Craft Wedding Invitation Suite was framed by the decorative motifs inspired by The Gamble House Door.

A custom stained-glass-esque pattern was inspired by the windows themselves as well, and was used throughout the Wedding Suite, included the table numbers, place cards, and thank you cards which I’ll share with you later in the week.

I hope you enjoyed this new addition to the LizzyB Loves Wedding Invitation catalog. If you did and would like to make it your own send me an email.

an arts & crafts wedding invitation {sneak peek}

Aug 26, 2011   //   by lizzybloves   //   Wedding Invitations  //  No Comments

A few months ago I shared with you a late summer visual + sparkle inspired by a fabulous Arts & Crafts house. I’ve also given you many sneak peaks of the final invitation, but I thought I’d stretch it out a little longer and show you the back side of the invitation with the custom pattern and logo used throughout the Wedding Invitation Suite.

This fabulous couple gets married tomorrow, so I wanted to take a little moment to wish them the best on this new journey together. May your special day be filled with many great memories celebrating with family and friends. I hope to soon be designing your baby announcements! =) Congratulations.

I’ll be back next week with the complete Arts & Crafts-inspired Wedding Invitation Suite.

1st birthday & baptism invitation

Aug 18, 2011   //   by lizzybloves   //   Birthday Invitations  //  5 Comments

A year ago this month a little new bundle of joy was born into a caring a loving family, that of my very good friend Jazmine. Her little one, Zoe, will be baptized and celebrated this weekend in a big way so she asked me to design something sweet and fun to commemorate the event.

Jazmine used the so adorable Mod Monkey motif for all her decorations so it was a must to use on the invitations*. In this double-sided Birthday and Baptism Invitation, the color palette was very girly, of course, with a mixture of soft tints for the baptism side and bright pops of pink and lime green for the birthday celebration side.

An array of graphic elements such as diagonal lines and polka-dots accompanied by flowing banners holding the important information added to the playfulness of the invitations. A custom logo was created as well which was used on the address labels and other designs created for the decor.

And of course the address label is a must for the final touch. I reflected the Mod Monkey motif so it showed on both the front and back of the address label. These bright and vibrant Magenta envelopes from the Eames Furniture Collection, which I also used on these Owl Baby Shower Invitations, brought the invitation suite together.

May this baptism and birthday celebration be as special as the many happy years to come! Unfortunately, I can’t attend being that it’s the same day as my in-law’s 50th Anniversary Celebration (and in different cities), but I’ll have little Zoe and your family in might heart. Have Fun!!

Have a great weekend everyone. Tomorrow I’m off to Baja…the celebration begins!

*Disclaimer: this was a personal, non-commercial invitation design. The Mod Monkey motif was licensed for this purpose only and will not be sold under the LizzyB Loves brand.

50th anniversary invitation

Aug 11, 2011   //   by lizzybloves   //   Patterns, Social Invitations  //  1 Comment

I shared the creation of a few Mexican tile-inspired patterns here and the final designs I would use for my in-law’s 50th anniversary celebration invitations here, but below are the images I shot of the final invitation sets which were mailed to the guests a few weeks ago.

Their actual anniversary isn’t until next March, but the celebration will be in a few weeks. A logo with their names and wedding years was created to be used on the front of the invitation and address label.

A different motif was created as well with the celebration date to be used on the back of the invitation and many of the other paper pieces such as favor tags.

From the previous pattern designs four various background designs were created for the invitations, thus each guest would receive one out of four of the designs.

The format of the 50th Anniversary Invitation was long but folded down to a 5″ x 5″ square to fit perfectly in the gold envelope.

These are the four background pattern designs created for the invitations. The colors were a mustard/yellow to match the gold envelope, accompanied by a rich black and accents of charcoal.

Flourishes were designed by taking elements of the various patterns to create a motif which accented the outside of the invitation as well as the address label below.

A crest shape contained the pertinent information for the event and was the unifying design element on all invitations.

For the reception card, which needed to be removable, we used black photo corners to keep it in place. It worked out perfectly, fitting inside the diamond shape created by the patterned background.

And the final touch to this 50th Anniversary Celebration Invitation were the two designs created for the envelope liners. Taking a combination of motifs from all the patterns created, two versions of the the envelope liner were designed unifying all the pattern designs.

a modern quinceañera invitation

Aug 5, 2011   //   by lizzybloves   //   Quinceañera Invitations  //  No Comments

It’s been quite a while since I had promised to share this Modern Quinceañera Invitation with you, but hey, it’s better late than never.

I shared the visual + sparkle = inspiration with you here and my design inspiration here, so you can see the final outcome is exactly what the Señorita wanted.

The Quinceañera Invitation Suite consisted of the main invitation, a map card with a custom map illustration, and a reception card with fun copy chosen by the birthday girl. We chose to use a silhouette of the Quinceañera to give it a personal touch without the use of the actual photograph.

Each card had its own elaborate background pattern created by taking elements of the script typeface used as accent on the Invitation Suite. The bold Budmo Jiggler typeface was used to give it the modern and youthful touch.

The invitation and reception card envelopes both had their own wrap-around address label with the Quinceañera’s name on the back. The color palette was the perfect combination of drama with the purple and modern youth with the light gray and mint.

The diagonal orientation of most of the text and graphic elements also added to the modern and youthful feel of this Quinceañera Invitation Suite.

This was a fun project to work on. The map illustration was my favorite part using very simplified elements and symbols…it looks so pretty over the faint diagonal striped background.

giraffe baby shower invitations

Aug 4, 2011   //   by lizzybloves   //   Baby Shower Invitations  //  1 Comment

It’s been forever, I know, but I’ve been finalizing these oh-so-cute Giraffe Baby Shower Invitations to share with you.

Precisely, my previous post was the brightly-colored modern visual + sparkle = inspiration for this cute Giraffe Invitation, so now here are the quick images I snapped to show you the final piece.

These Giraffe Baby Shower Invitations were inspired by the previous Owl Baby Shower Invitation I created and shared here. The baby shower is for a soon-to-be-born baby boy so the colors are the perfect combination of bright, modern and masculine with the vibrant orange and green paired with the muted gray.

For this Baby Shower Invitation I chose a dotted cardstock with its matching envelope to add a punch of pattern combined with the spots on the giraffe itself. The event was still tentative so the invitations were created as a fill-in so the soon-to-be-mom could write in the correct information as she saw fit.

These were printed on a cream, textured Neenah Paper from the Eames Furniture Collection which only added to the softness of the invitation.

Of course, a matching address label is a must, with the return address on the back as you can see below.

And the diagonal lines were a must to keep with the modern look.

busy, busy, busy…

Jun 30, 2011   //   by lizzybloves   //   The Bottom Drawer, Wedding Invitations  //  No Comments

I just received many packages in the mail this week, from printed invitations, to envelopes, to many other goodies.

It’s been a busy week here at LizzyB Loves. It’s so exciting to see the collaboration between Soon-to-Wed couples and myself come to fruition in the form of their printed invitations!!

One of my favorite parts of the paper goods production process is the straight edges of a freshly cut stack of paper/cards…Love It!

Call me a paper geek, but it was always my favorite task when I worked at an in-house design studio/print shop…and luckily, that duty was always left for me.

And here’s yet another teaser of the Arts & Crafts-inspired Wedding Invitation. I promise I’ll share the completed suite with you next week.

This is an updated version of the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Wedding Invitation I designed a few months ago and shared here. It has inspired elements from the venue’s architectural motifs to give it a more custom feel.

mexican {tile} inspired wedding invitation

Jun 29, 2011   //   by lizzybloves   //   Patterns, Social Invitations  //  2 Comments

Last Friday I shared with you the patterns I created for a 50th Anniversary Invitation inspired by the venue’s tile motifs, well here I have a sneak peek of the final designs just before moving forward to printing.

As mentioned before, the 50th Anniversary Invitations are for my in-laws, you would think traditional damask motifs, but we wanted to give it a modern touch with sans serif fonts and contrasting bright colors such as yellow and black, which match the gold square envelopes.

The initial concept was to go with a Mad Mex (Mad Men goes Mexican) theme, and we kept in that line with the modern typeface, but aside from that all the other details are derived from the venue’s tile motifs.

There were four tile pattern designs created in total so we decided to go with four variations of the invitation, all with the same crest forms containing the text and the different patterned background.

The reception card, address label and favor tag all have variations of the motifs on them as well, but you’ll have to wait for the final invitation photography to see those. Stay tuned!

an arts & crafts wedding invitation {sneak peek}

Jun 28, 2011   //   by lizzybloves   //   Wedding Invitations  //  No Comments

A bit late in the day, but I was so excited that I just sent these invitations to print I had to share a sneak peek.

I shared the color inspiration in this visual + sparkle = weddings here last Tuesday. This project was on fast-forward from the get-go so I’m glad things went so smoothly with the soon-to-be’s and that they were more than happy with the outcome; the digital outcome, that is. I’ll share the final pictures in a few weeks when we get the invitations back from the printer, and I’ll tell you more about the concept and design…for now, just remember the Gamble House.

a frank lloyd wright {wedding} invitation

Apr 13, 2011   //   by lizzybloves   //   Wedding Invitations  //  No Comments

As promised, I have for you the final images of the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Wedding Invitation. I shared the original and then updated visual + sparkle = inspiration here and here respectively…you tell me if these aren’t right on with the client’s inspiration!

This Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Wedding Invitation Suite consisted of a double-sided invitation and a double-sided RSVP card, both accompanied by a charcoal-colored, metallic envelope giving a touch of elegance to the modern and casual feel of the design.

The envelopes dawned a wrap-around address label decorated with some of the design motifs carried across the entire wedding invitation suite.

The Arts & Crafts-inspired motifs and patterns were custom designed for the couple taking inspiration from the architectural design elements of some of Frank Lloyd Wrights’ most well-known projects.

The text layout and that of the design motifs also follow design principles of the Arts & Crafts movement in that the placement is very angular mirroring the lines of the pattern itself. This gives the format a modern feel which the couple wanted to portray.

The quality of the paper stock in any Invitation Suite is highly important. Although these invitations were digitally printed, the feel of the paper is still smooth to the touch adding to the casual elegance.

It was great working with you both Meg & Jeritt. I wish you much more happiness in this new stage of your life together with your newly expanded family!! (By the way, Meg is a fabulous Mosaic Artist…check out her lovely website!)
