owl baby shower invitations
As promised, I have for you the Owl Baby Shower invites I designed for my cousin Silvanna.
I took inspiration for the owl illustration from the cute owl stuffed toy she created for the center pieces, which you can see here.
I added a cross-hatch pattern as a background to the body of the owl to add sense of texture to the design.
Each of the Owl Baby Shower invites were cut individually by hand to create the owl shape around the top of the elongated invitation.
These were then glued on to a hot pink backer to act as a frame to the white Eames Paper from Neenah Paper.
The back of the invite showcases the pertinent information, and as a design element, shows the backside of the owl as you would see from behind.
I also created complimenting address labels with the branch motif used on the invitation itself and the diagonal line block as well.
The branch also has a wooden texture to give the design more dimension.
I’ve always loved the way crisp, cut paper looks and feels…and to imagine all this was cut by hand, I’m surprised it’s so straight!
The paper stock and envelope (also from the Neenah Paper Eames Collection) have a great textured pattern which only added to the overall feel and dimension of the textured motifs throughout the invite set.
The complete Owl Baby Shower invitation set consisted of an elongated, double-sided invitation slipped into a #10 policy envelope sealed with a long address label. Bright and colorful!

a glimpse at quinceañera invitations
Just popping in to share with you a few comps for the Quinceañera invitation I’m working on. I’ve already shared with you the visual + sparkle here and invitation inspiration here, so now, take a glimpse at a few of the designs I created inspired be these.
This was the first one I created (you must click on all the images to view in its entirety), and I feel it shows precisely everything exhibited in the visual + sparkle, no? The background designs are reminiscent of Art Deco motifs, giving that Hollywood Glamorous touch.
This is a simplified rendition of the first comp…crisp, clean and classic with the typography as the main design element.
Now here is the chosen one! I’ve included a frame around the entire silhouette and also oriented the design diagonally to give it a modern/graphic touch, but still keeping it sophisticated enough for a Quinceañera Invitation.
I’m finalizing the rest of the pieces so I’ll share some photographs of the entire suite as soon as it’s done.

visual + sparkle = quinceañera invitations
On Friday I shared with you three gorgeous visual + sparkles for a Fall Quinceañera I am creating an invitation for, so today I have a visual + sparkle = paper inspirations for the actual invite.
These were all selected for various reasons: on some I like the orientation of the text, others I like the elongated format (with the #10 Open End envelope), and others I like the treatment of the graphics. Since I’m going with a Hollywood Chic Glamour feel I thought bold, Art Deco patterns would be the perfect accent. I can’t wait to start the actual design process…I’ll keep you posted. { Click on the image to view the complete visual + sparkle. }

visual + sparkle = quinceañera
So I’m starting a new category today, being that I haven’t seen very many ‘Quinceañera’ inspirations around I thought I would start my own for all of those modern and gorgeous soon to be ‘señoritas’.
I’d mentioned before that I had been commissioned to design a Quinceañera invitation for the fall, and I’m just getting started with research on papers and other materials, so I thought I would create a few visual + sparkles to get my, and the young ladies, juices flowing. The colors they’ve chosen are black and purple, yes, very modern and elegant to have black as a main color for a Quinceañera, but the times are surely changing.
This is my favorite inspiration board. Taking the main colors they chose, I immediately started thinking of Old Hollywood Glam-our, so I completed the palette with a cream, mint, and gray as accent colors. You absolutely have to see this visual + sparkles enlarged, so click on each collage to view in its entirety…there’s more to see!
Here I added a touch of Sweet Girly-ness with the pink paired as well with an off-white a slate color to keep the feel modern and sophisticated…but young.
And this is a more modern play on the first color palette, turning the saturation up to give it a younger and more playful essence. We’ll see which options they choose. I’ll for sure keep you posted on the process of this great invitation.

she has arrived
Good morning all. Today I have for you a LizzyB creation, something I haven’t shared in a while. About a month ago I shared with you some holiday card designs I created for the Minted Holiday Challenge, of which one was inspired by this Birth Announcement I designed for my good friends’ new baby, who was born just a week ago.
This was a simple and sophisticated folded card which she could use to place the newborn’s image in the space provided inside the scalloped frame. I chose a soft, metallic, rosy color palette for the card and envelope, and accented with light aqua and brown. The script typeface gives it a touch of elegance, yet the sans serif Universe font keeps if modern.
The inside shows the pertinent information surrounded by the same scalloped frame as in the front, with a lined banner serving as a background.
As a small detail in the front, I placed the month and year of her birth beneath the frame.
I also designed a personalized gift wrap using Zoe’s, the newborn, initial as a motif and creating a pattern. I played around with placement and color to create interesting shapes.
And here’s the wrapped birth announcements. I used the same scalloped frame as a label for a special message for the new parents. Congratulations Jazmine & Christian on your new arrival…a lovely sister to Anette!

give me some more mint{ed}
Boy, this challenge sure ran long, but the deadline truly crept up on me. Today is the last day for submissions and these are a few more that I uploaded. I’m very non-traditional and like things modern, so I kept with the block text on this one while still using semi-traditional colors (because they asked for it).
This is my favorite of them all…Framed Sweetness. I based it on a Baby Announcement I just created because I liked it so much (I’ll show you that later; it’s a surprise.).
Actually, this is my favorite, too. I like the non-traditional holiday colors and the blurred lights effect…it gives it a snowy feel. And that couple…so sweet!
I’ll keep you posted on when the voting starts.
